Copychest is built local-first, which keeps this policy short. Here is everything there is to know.

Copychest is a product of Leo Luis Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 11175497. That is who holds anything described below, and [email protected] reaches us. The registered office is on our terms page.

What Copychest stores

Everything you save in Copychest, from snippets and templates to clipboard history and settings, is stored only on your computer. We can’t see it. There’s no account and no cloud sync. Screenshots you capture or copy are saved as ordinary image files in Copychest’s own folder.

One thing Copychest deliberately doesn’t store: passwords. When you copy from a password manager, Copychest skips it, so it never reaches your clipboard history. Copying and pasting still works exactly as normal.

When the app goes online

The app contacts the internet for exactly two jobs:

• Checking for updates. The app asks our release server whether a newer version exists. No personal data is sent.
• Validating a Pro license key. Polar, our merchant of record, receives your license key and an anonymous install identifier so the key can be activated and checked.

Purchases

Purchases are handled entirely by Polar. They process your payment details and email address under their own privacy policy. We never see your card.

This website

This website uses privacy-respecting analytics: no cookies, and no tracking you across the web.

Emailing us

Email us and we’ll have your email address, which we use to reply and nothing else. Writing to support never puts you on any list.

Our email list

If you ask us to email you a download link, we use your address to send it and nothing else. If you also choose to join our email list, we keep your address, the date you joined and which page you joined from, so we can show that you asked for it. Either way your address is stored with MailerLite, who send our email for us. We use the list to send tips for getting more out of Copychest, a heads-up when there is a new version, any discounts we run, and first word of anything new we build, including any new app from the same maker. We never sell it, never rent it and never share it with anyone else. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing removes you from the list. Ask us at [email protected] and we will delete your address entirely.

If you ask us for a discount code, we email it to you and store your address and the code on our own servers, so asking twice gets you the same code rather than a new one.

If you start buying Copychest Pro and do not finish, we may send you one email with a discount code, using the address you typed at the checkout. One email, nothing after it, and it carries an unsubscribe link.
